Fellowship

An important part of the ministry of St. Luke's is the active fellowship of our members and friends.  Fellowship allows us to get to know each other better and enrich our sense of church family.  At St. Luke's, we welcome guests and visitors with friendly and open arms.

Below are descriptions of just some of the fellowship events at St. Luke's.  If you would like more information, you can check the Calendar of Events or call the church office (713-667-6531).

Cookie Time - Every Sunday

Every Sunday following the 10:55 a.m. worship service, one of our members is serving up cookies or other treats and punch in our "Cookie Room".  It is the perfect time to catch up with our church family and hear about their week, their recent vacation, or anything else that is happening in their life.

Shrove Tuesday - Jazz in the Parking Lot and Fish Fry

Held on the Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday as we prepare to enter the Lenten season, this is an event designed to have fun!  Our Director of Music brings the house down with his Marvin Gaspard Trio (piano, bass and drums) playing lively, jazz dinner music while we all enjoy catfish dinners of Texas-sized proportions.  Bring your appetite for a New Orleans-style evening.

Easter Egg Hunt

Each year on the Saturday morning before Easter Sunday, the Easter Bunny visits St. Luke's.  Children from all over the neighborhood (and their parents, of course) are invited to help our little ones hunt for hundreds of candy-filled eggs on the lawn and grounds of St. Luke's.  Bring your children and their baskets -- let no egg go unfound!

July Jazz Communion Worship Service and Picnic

Every first Sunday in July at our 10:55 a.m. worship service, we praise God with some toe-tappin' jazz and gospel music like "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" led by the Marvin Gaspard Trio.  This service has become one of our most enjoyed and well-visited services of the year.  The communion service is followed by a good, old-fashioned, all-American picnic in our Fellowship Hall.  You won't want to miss this!

Fall Festival

If you are looking for a safe and fun place to take your children to trick-or-treat, St. Luke's is just that place.  Our Fall Festival is held early in the evening of Halloween, so even the littlest can attend.  We have plenty of candy and fun-filled games and prizes, as well.  We even have door prizes for best costumes for kids and adults alike, plus refreshments like popcorn and cotton candy to make it the best night ever.  So, put on your favorite costumes and come on over to St. Luke's!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Each year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, our St. Luke's family sits down to a catered Thanksgiving Dinner to give thanks to the Lord for the bounty He has provided.  There are always lots of family and friends visiting this time of year, so the feast is even bigger and better.  We would love to have you join us for this dinner of thanks.

Live Nativity

Each year on an evening in the week preceding Christmas, St. Luke's re-enacts the event of Christ's birth in the manger with our Live Nativity.  While church members and friends portray the beautiful scene (complete with a live camel, sheep and donkey), the St. Luke's Chancel Choir sings Christmas Carols for all.  And there are always lots of Christmas refreshments, including hot cider and hot chocolate to take the chill off the crisp night air.  Please come fellowship with your neighbors and friends at St. Luke's for this meaningful night.

These are just some of the regular fellowship events at St. Luke's.  Many others are planned as opportunities and needs arise.  Please regularly check our calendar over the year, and join us.  We would like to get to know you.
